In Search for Another Place
for one performer, many beach balls, live electronics, microphone and loudspeakers.
Commissioned by OTO Sound museum.

In certain environments, our behaviors and movements are clearly defined. I know how to act in
a shopping mall, at the beach, or in a train station. It would seem quite strange if I deviated from these expected norms. However, some places fall into a grey area without many predefined patterns of behavior. In these spaces, I feel to have the freedom to move and act as I choose, without feeling
awkward. In this work I perform a minimal action that is commonly seen elsewhere, yet might also occur in this space. The action is amplified by a sound system. My body initiates the sound, and the space responds. This dynamic interaction between my movements and the environment is caused by connecting my movements to the space through an interactive sound system. I see this performance as an exercise in searching through sound for what remains invisible, wherever we are.
The performance is curated by Zaira Oram, Francesca Ceccherini.
